ICYMI: Juvenile Probation Staff Honored For Efforts During Saddleridge & Tick Fires
Soon, 96 Probation officers and staff from the Los Angeles County Probation Department will be receiving the Department’s Medal of Merit for their bravery in assisting with the evacuation of youth from the Barry J. Nidorf Juvenile Hall (BJNJH) and Camp Joseph Scott during last year’s fire season.
ICYMI: Probation Department Officer Awarded Medal Of Valor
The Los Angeles County Probation Department will be awarding a Medal of Valor to Deputy Probation Officer Martha Corbett for her part in rescuing an 11-year-old boy who was standing too close to train tracks last October.
Deputy Probation Officer Martha Corbett a probation liaison with the city of Norwalk was visiting a middle school last Oct. 3 when school officials were alerted that the boy had run away from the school and was standing close to nearby train tracks, according to the probation department.

Probation Services Week Spotlight: Alameda County’s Pilot to Positive Re-entry
The Alameda County Probation Department is partnering with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) to implement a two-year adult re-entry program called Redesigning the Pathways Home: A Pilot to Positive Re-entry (Pathways Home).
The purpose of this program is for Alameda Probation and CDCR to strengthen their services to better assist individuals transitioning from state prisons to community supervision.

ICYMI: Humboldt County Probation Responds to a Pandemic
It was just days before the July Fourth weekend when Humboldt County Chief Probation Officer Shaun Brenneman got the official word: A handful of California state prison inmates were being released early as COVID-19 continued to tear through state facilities. The released inmates would arrive in a couple days, Brenneman was told, including one who’d tested positive for COVID and another who’d been exposed to the deadly virus.
Probation Services Week Highlight: Orange County Probation Celebrates First Young Adult Court Graduate
On June 26, 2020, Abraham became the first graduate from Orange County Probation’s Young Adult Court, a two-year program that gives first-time felons a second chance.
Orange County Superior Court Judge Maria D. Hernandez wiped clean Abraham’s slate – untethering him from the stain of past mistakes.
The inaugural class consisted of 25 students randomly selected from hundreds of men between the ages of 18 and 23. Those who complete the course are eligible to have their convictions reduced or dismissed.

Yolanda, a former client of San Bernardino County Probation, is an uplifting story of transformation and success.
As a past substance abuser, Yolanda has done things she regrets. Since then, with the help of San Bernardino County Probation and the Drug Court Program, Yolanda has been able to turn her life around.
It was during her time in the intensive Drug Court program that Yolanda finally learned how to be happy, and lead an independent lifestyle free of substance abuse.

Chief Probation Officer Dan Prince announced this year’s annual Probation Service Week will be taking place from July 19 – July 25, to honor probation professionals who work to keep communities safe. At its July 14 meeting, the Imperial County Board of Supervisors approved a Proclamation honoring the professionals who work in Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Services, according to a press release.
