Legislation

The Chief Probation Officers of California (CPOC) represents the chiefs in all 58 counties in the State of California. Chief Probation Officers administer juvenile and adult probation programs for offenders placed on probation. In addition to traditional felony probation, we supervise offenders sentenced to mandatory supervision or released from prison onto post-release community supervision under the 2011 Public Safety Realignment. Probation makes recommendations to the courts and enforces their orders in our communities by providing supervision and treatment programs for both juvenile and adult offenders. Chief Probation Officers are also responsible for overseeing the management, operation, programming, and administration of juvenile detention and rehabilitation facilities.
