The CPOC Foundation is excited to announce the open registration for our 8th Annual Foster Care Conference, Advancing Opportunities: Empowering Youth and Families through Engagement to be held at the Anaheim Marriott on April 1-2, 2025. This event will provide opportunities to explore ways to enhance services and supports for foster youth on probation and their families.

Discover the Science Behind Adolescent Decision-Making at Our General Session

Why do intelligent adolescents engage in risky, sometimes reckless behaviors? What differences in  adolescent development have been identified in youth involved in the juvenile justice system? Find out at this insightful general session led by Dr. Elizabeth Cauffman, a distinguished professor at UC Irvine, speaking Wednesday morning, April 2nd, at the Advancing Opportunities: Empowering Youth and Families through Engagement conference held in Anaheim, CA.

Some Highlights of Our Breakout Sessions and One of Our General Sessions!

Day 1 of our conference will feature a general session by the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) covering California’s new Permanent Foster Care Rate Structure. Starting July 2025, a key part of this rate structure will take effect, requiring the use of standardized high-fidelity Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) assessment for all youth and non-minor dependents (NMDs) in foster care. This important CANS update will be explored in depth during a breakout session later that day.

Breakout Session Highlight: Strategies to Support the Preservation of Indian Children and Their Families

CPOC Foundation is excited to announce that on Tuesday afternoon our conference will feature Supervising Probation Officers Yvonne Salgado and Clara Lapastora with San Diego County Probation who will be sharing successful strategies in working with Indian children, their families and tribal leaders to enhance family preservation efforts. Effective strategies focusing on engagement, collaboration and strong partnerships which support their efforts to adhere to ICWA mandates will all be highlighted.
