This course explores the power of evidence-based sentencing; the probation sentence; basic rules of sentencing of single and multiple count cases to state prison and under PC section 1170(h); the strategies of sentencing after realignment; an introduction to the calculation of custody credits; and victim restitution.  The class is presented with a combination of lecture, PowerPoint, and hypothetical case problems.
