Today, Chief Stephanie James, President of the Chief Probation Officers of California (CPOC) released the following statement in response to the announcement of Executives Transforming Probation & Parole (EXiT): 

“We commend the intentions of Executives Transforming Probation and Parole (EXiT) and look forward to working with them on California specific responses to further improve probation.  Frequently this area of study relies on national trends and often does not translate to California’s unique system and our evidence-based approaches in probation.  To further our commitment to advance best practices, we have launched the California Probation Resource Institute (CaPRI) designed to critically analyze California probation programs and services. We look forward to working collaboratively with EXiT and sharing information that can be insightful to our mutual work of improving outcomes for our clients and our communities.”
