Simms, who oversees the Juvenile Court Unit for the department, received the award during the recent Chief Probation Officers of California Awards Ceremony. It acknowledges her “dedication and excellence” to ensure that probation professionals receive high-level and effective training.

“She is an extraordinary trainer who not only excels in her delivery but also takes pride in coaching and developing her fellow trainers. Delivering the kind of high-level training we need to deliver better community safety and enhanced rehabilitation for those in our justice system. We wouldn’t see the kind of success we have seen without her.”

Simms has been with the department for 19 years, and has been a facilitator for the Chief Probation Officers of California Foundation’s Supervisor Leadership Academy since 2019. Additionally, she co-facilitates the “Engaging Others” training, where she has helped mentor new CPOC Foundation trainers.
