This 2-day virtual course provides an overview of adult court writing for new probation officers or experienced probation officers transitioning into an adult investigations assignment.  It is also useful for probation managers seeking a deeper understanding of adult report writing procedures, best practices, and current adult sentencing mandates, which changed in recent years.  Content includes probation’s investigative expectations defined in the Penal Code and Rules of Court, evidence-based practices guiding sentencing recommendations, dispositional options, information gathering and interviews, and basic determinate sentencing. Active student participation is critical and all students will be expected to engage, despite the remote-learning environment.
