Brian Richart
Since 2013 Brian Richart has been the judicially appointed Chief Probation Officer for the County of El Dorado in California. Prior to this appointment, Chief Richart served three years as the Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Adult services in the county of Alameda and thirteen years with the County of Shasta, including four as Chief Probation Officer. He was the 2020 President of the Chief Probation Officers of California and a member of their Executive, Legislative Advisory, and Juvenile Advisory Committees. Chief Richart was recently re-appointed by the Chief Justice of the California State Supreme Court to the Family and Juvenile Law Advisory Committee of the California Judicial Council. Chief Richart is an active member of the Robert F. Kennedy National Resource Center for Juvenile Justice Practice Network as well as the American Probation and Parole Association and has participated in several state and national initiatives to improve probation practices and outcomes in both juvenile and criminal justice. He is a facilitator of the Arbinger Institute’s Outward Mindset principles and provides training across the country for members of the field. Chief Richart has committed his practice to the protection and support of all people and communities through improved health, well-being, and safety.
