Chief Jennifer Branning Appointed to Board of State and Community Corrections by Governor Newsom
SACRAMENTO – Governor Newsom announced his appointment of Lassen County Chief Probation Officer Jennifer Branning to the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC).
“It’s a true honor to be appointed to this Board, and I’m sincerely grateful for the opportunity to serve,” Branning remarked. “I’m confident that my background and experience will bring value as I step into this role with the BSCC. I’m looking forward to starting my term and representing the probation profession in California.”
The Board of State and Community Corrections is an independent statutory agency that provides leadership to the adult and juvenile criminal justice systems; expertise on Public Safety Realignment issues; and offers technical assistance on a wide range of community corrections issues.
Chief Jennifer Branning has been Chief Probation Officer at the Lassen County Probation Department since 2013, where she previously served as a Deputy Probation Officer since 2007. Branning served as the President of the Chief Probation Officers of California in 2023. Branning began her career in Lassen County at the Lassen County Child Welfare Department and prior to that worked with adults with developmental disabilities.
“Chief Branning is a considerate and empathetic leader, and she’ll be an outstanding asset to the BSCC,” stated Chief Kelly Vernon, President of the Chief Probation Officers of California (CPOC). “Her skill in listening to all perspectives and using evidence and experience to guide her decisions will serve her well in this role and greatly benefit both our state and the community corrections system.”
